Coupland: Team comes first

Welton S&SC talisman Scott Coupland claims his team are confident of beating anybody given their current run of form.
Social face a stern test this weekend when they face Grimsby based side Tap and Spile in the County Cup semi final, a side who have already claimed the notable scalp of FSC Victory in this competition this season.

But with a 14-game unbeaten run behind them including 13 wins, Social are not fearing any opposition, according to Coupland.

The Welton skipper said: "The Tap and Spile game is really important, It’s huge.

"These are the type of games that as a player you want to play and train every day for.

"If we come out on top it would be magnificent.

"We know we are capable of doing anything against any team.

"We know that they are going to be a good side and we know it’s going to be a really tough game.

"We will try to give our best shot because we can do it if we are serious and focused."

Coupland has fired home 26 goals already this season insists it does not bother him how many goals he scores and would not care if he didn’t to add to that tally at the weekend as long as his side go through.

“It’s nice to get goals but for me it’s all about Welton winning football matches.”

“If someone is in a better position than me to score I get just as much enjoyment out of passing it to them to finish as I do scoring myself.”

“I would much prefer to come off the pitch on Sunday having not scored a goal and Welton are in the final than coming off the pitch with a hat trick but the team has lost 4-3.”
