Taylor predicts Bank-Holiday goal fest

Al Taylor has put Lincolnshire on goal alert after predicting Welton and FC Milan could serve up another feast of football at the Sincil Bank in Sundays County Cup final.

Welton and Rustons produced a memorable Ron Eaglen Cup Final last Sunday with 5 second half goals and Taylor hinted there could be more exciting times ahead against Milan in Sundays final.

"I think both teams have a style to attack when they can," declared Taylor. "Milan like to attack and Welton are not a team who have the strategy to sit back and wait until it happens as we proved on Sunday, We can make things happen going forward.”

"The team have shown a lot of initiatives and that's why I think it is more or less an open clash, with two teams who like to go forward."

He continued: "It is the whole teams responsibility to make sure we have a concentrated start on Sunday.

"I have seen Milan play many times in the last weeks and also before. They got a good 5-1 win the other day against Lincs international shipping.”

"For a long time I have been a Milan admirer and an admirer of their philosophy.

"The players not only play for themselves but also a great club and they know it, in a side which is very attacking and attractive - it makes it typical of the Milan style."

However, striker Liam Walker is perceived as the biggest threat. The subject of how to stop the forward has dominated the pre-match build-up following the absence of Joe Snookes.

It has left Welton without a recognised replacement following Craig Wilkinson acrimonious departure and an untimely ankle break for Jaz Dhindsa.

The answer for the Scotsman is probably to place his faith in Matt Gordon, and Taylor remains confident Gordons vast experience will be the key to success.

Normally a forward, Gordon switched to centre half in the Premier League defeat to Millers. Taylor added: "Walker had big promise and, within a short period, he has made it happen completely.

"I like very much the way he plays, he does like the stardom of playing and it's very effective. It looks very simple but it is very difficult.

"But I have full confidence that whoever gets the nod can do the job on Sunday and bring home more silverware."
