DARLING BAD FOR CARLING SAYS CARTER

Welton Sports & Social veteran defender Will Carter has today hit out at todays budget announced by Chancellor Alistair Darling.

Darling announced alcohol duties will go up by 2% - about 5p a pint - from midnight. There will be an increase in tobacco duty of 2% from 6pm. Mr Darling said these measures will raise more than £6bn by 2012.

Carter said “I appreciate the Chancellor is doing his best to rescue the Country from this credit crunch but increasing the price of beer is the wrong way to go about it!”

“Everyone knows I like a beer or five and this is going to severely affected my finances. I know its only 5p a pint but this will add a further £50 to my alcohol budget ever month!”

The Nook Farm Resident’s comments have come at a strange time, 24 hours before the squad for the Ron Eaglen Cup Final is announced.
