Carter – Beware of the underdog!

Experienced Welton defender Will Carter has warned his team mates to be warey of Peter De Wint ahead of Sundays game. Carter, speaking exclusively to http://www.wsscfc.blogpot.com/, knows all to well about cup upsets having been involved in a couple himself as a Welton player.

“Wragby away in 2006 will live long in the memory and not for the right reasons” said Carter.

“We arrived expecting it to be a walkover against the Division 4 side and we couldn’t have been more wrong. Some players didn’t even bother to turn up like goalkeeper Joe Drabble who stayed in bed so that meant I had to go in goal! We soon found ourselves in a battle and ended up losing 4 – 3.”

One of the Wragby goals saw Carter beaten by his opposite number straight from a goalkick which has gone down in Wragby folklore. We spoke to Wragby resident Alan Edwards who was at the game “Unbelievable!!

“I have never seen anything like it in my life, we still speak about it in the Turners Arms to this day!”

Carter declined to comment on the matter.

After these past experiences Carter knows his side can not under estimate Peter De Wint and will have to go into the game in the right mindset.

“They are the homeside and they will make things difficult for us” Explained Carter

"I've played against lower-league sides before and I'm sure De Wint won't be different to any other" he said.

"In the past there have been dodgy pitches, cold showers, not to mention the poor facilities and they will try a few things to unsettle us.

"It's important that you don't let it get to you, and you just keep your nerve, because if they sense you are weak then they will take advantage of it.

"It will be a difficult game because they will be desperate to cause an upset and they'll be well up for it.

"We must remember that we are the better side, purely because of our league position and I'm sure if we remain professional then we will win.
