Postponement frustrates Taylor
Welton Sports & Social manager Alistair Taylor has said he was disappointed that Sunday’s County Cup clash at Scunthorpe based Janney’s Allstars was postponed because of a frozen pitch.
Freezing temperatures meant the game at the Squash Club on West Common Lane was called off after a pitch inspection at 0830 GMT.
"We've had 2 weekends without a game and we were looking forward to this one," Taylor told the club's website.
"When you prepare and have done all the work it's very disappointing when the game is called off."
Taylor also admitted that the Socialites' rescheduled fixture with Janney’s on Sunday may also be threatened by the cold weather.
"There has to be a question mark over the Janneys game but we will prepare as if it's going ahead," he said.
"We remain hopeful, because we don't want too long without a game.
"We will assess what training we can do over the next few days, because the players can only do so much on an astroturf surface," he added.
