Welton are left with an uphill task once again if they are to challenge for the Premier League title after they slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Social Park to rivals FSC Victory.
Welton started poorly were caught cold after 5 minutes when Ben Good found space to head home a Shaun Booth corner at the near post.
Welton could have already been behind before this Goal had it not been for two excellent saves by Phil McGann.
The Socialites began to play there way into the game but were undone on the counter attack when the incompetent official in charge of the game chose to ignore the linesman’s flag and allow Jordan Hempenstall to race clear and finish well past McGann to double Victory’s lead despite furious protests from the dug out.

Welton needed to banish the memories of previous games where sloppy second half performances have cost them dearly and take the came to Victory.
On the whole Welton’s second half performance was a lot better with the Socialites having the Lions share of possession without ever really forcing Vic goalkeeper Rick Duffin to make many saves.
Welton grabbed a lifeline when substitute Craig Cosgrove brilliantly finished off a decent move with 15 minutes to go but Victory withstood Weltons late onslaught to mean that once again Welton have all the work to do.
The Socialites now have two weeks of Cup competition before they return to League action against bogey side AFC Hykeham.
