Al Taylor signed five players in the summer with Matt O Halloran, Barry McGann and Steve Mason all joining on permanent deals.
Sawyer also revealed that the club had secured a goalkeeper on a loan deal for when Phil McGann is away next weekend.
He told the club's official website: "We had a couple of sniffs at a late deal for a player on loan coming on and we managed to get it done in the end.
"We were quite passive on deadline day because we had done everything we had set out to do when we made our plans for the summer."
Welton also managed to keep hold out their star names, including Scott Coupland which pleased sawyer.
He said: "We said all along we would not sell our best players this summer. Al is happy with his squad and we were not going to add players to the squad just for the sake of adding them.
"We have also got our number one choices in with Matt (O Halloran) and Barry (McGann)."
“Barrys goals will come he is a proven goal scorer and we’re absolutely delighted with the impact Matt has made already.”
