
Their were ugly scenes throughout the second half both on and off the pitch at the SCG of the game that Scothern won 3-1 with Welton reduced to 9 men at the final whistle after their players were incensed by an alleged spitting incident that went unpunished by the referee.
Several Village Hall stewards were seen to rush down the tunnel after the players had left the pitch.
A police spokesperson told Press Association Sport: "Following the final whistle at the Scothern United, Welton Sports AFC game there was a small disturbance in the tunnel involving both teams.
"stewards swiftly dealt with the incident and there were no injuries or arrests. Both teams are working with the police and any necessary action will be taken in due course."
stewards questioned players and officials from both sides after the game, while the Football Association confirmed they have launched their own investigation.
Both clubs have refused to comment.
