Snookes: We must keep our cool

Joe Snookes has urged his Welton S&SC team-mates to keep calm as the pressure gets more intense as the season reaches the home straight.
After last nights semi final draw that saw the Socialites drawn away to either Claytons or Newton United snookes knows that Welton will now be strong favorites to reach their 4th final in 5 seasons.

But Snookes recognises that it is only going to get tougher over the next couple of months.

The defender does not think it would be wise to look too far ahead, though, preferring to take each game as it comes.

"Mentally we just need to focus on our game and play every game like it's a final," he said.

"It's going to get tougher and tougher, because it will get more intense, but we just need to keep our heads and stay cool.

"It's a mental test as much as a physical one, because you feel the pressure from the other teams and you want to deliver.

"But at the same time you need to keep calm and play as well as you usually do.

"It's always difficult when you start as favorites because the other team play without pressure. “

“The fixtures are completely up in the air now and the Semi Final isn’t scheduled until next Month so again we have to put that game to the back of our mind like we have done with the county cup final and concentrate on clawing our way back into the title race and on Nettleham in the Kelly Read.”
