County Cup Final postponed!

For the first time ever the County Cup Final has had to be postponed. The recent deluge of rain has forced the Football association to abandon the showpiece encounter between Welton S&SC and Seven Seas.

A spokesman for the FA said. “We have been forced to take the extraordinary measure of cancelling the County Cup final because the pitch at the Bradley Football centre is completely waterlogged and with the forecast showing no signs of improving we feel we have taken a sensible decision to call the game off early.”

"It's the biggest game on the footballing calendar and every effort had been made to make the pitch playable but we were fighting a losing battle."

There has been no official date set for when the fixture will be rearranged for but wsscfc.blogspot sources have confirmed that it is extremely unlikely that the game will be played at the Bradley and the FA are holding an emergency meeting to decide on a new venue.

Welton Manager Al Taylor said that he was not surprised to hear that the news.

“It’s not that much of a surprise considering the weather we have been having of late.”

“It leaves us a bit in limbo now because we have prepared well this Week for what would have been our biggest game in 4 years but it can not be helped and it is better that they have made a decision now rather than on Saturday evening.”

“Nothing really changes for us as we have a massive game against Scothern in the Kelly Read Final on Wednesday night to prepare for now.”

"It's a shame for the supporters but there's not a lot that can be done about it."

The FA have confirmed that all tickets purchased for the Bradley stadium will be honoured at the new venue on the new date which will be confirmed as soon as possible.
