Warman relishing 'special derby'

Welton S&SC defender Leigh Warman claims there has "never been a better time" to beat local rivals Scothern United.

Having come through the Social Academy, warman is all too familiar with the long years the club have spent battling away with their local rivals.

Welton for the most part have had the better of recent exchanges but Scothern are bidding to change all that by wresting the Kelly Read Cup from welton's grasp next Wednesday.

Welton head into one of the most eagerly anticipated A46 derbies of all time looking to banish their Sincil Bank demons and reclaim their Kelly Read Cup for a fourth straight season.

Warman told the club's website: Because it’s at Sincil Bankl it just makes it a little bit more special.

"I've played against them since I was part of the Under-14s and it’s always been an intense rivalry especially in the Cup’s because they pull out a stronger side in the Cup competitions.”

"Everyone wants to win next week because it's a huge game and there's never been a better time for this."

"I want us to put in a real hard-working performance and really deserve to win it.

"It's not going to be an easy game, they will have a really strong side out and they will sense we are vulnerable but we have to prove that we want it as much as they do.

"That's what makes it more interesting. I can't wait and there is a real buzz around the place - it's going to be some game."
