Welton S&SC boss Al Taylor has revealed that he has plans to carry out a swoop for ex-Social Club defender Matt Gordon this summer.
Taylor has been expected to strengthen his back-line as he looks to rework his side ahead of the 2008/09 term.
Centre-back Gordon, who left Social Park in 2007, has remained clubless since last summer and has constantly been linked with a move back to the village outfit, with Taylor publicly expressing his interest in the 27-year-old.
"I have been interested in Matt Gordon ever since he was 16 and it was sad to see him leave the club last year," Taylor told The Welton News. "There is somebody I need for my team's defensive department - I want that somebody to be Matt. I know him very, very well and I hope he will be a Welton player again next season - and you can print that."
The fiery Scotsman further hinted that perhaps there is still more space in his impressive squad for next season. "I know all the good local players. Welton are following a number of them with great interest, although I won't name names."

Recently, Welton's defence came under fire in a fan's poll cast over which departments need fortifying during the transfer window and it seems Taylor will be looking to reassure fans with some shrewd investments this summer.
