Clifford reveals silverware inTENtion

The Welton winger has taken the Premier League by storm this season firing in 9 goals already making him the leagues leading scorer. But this past Sunday he surpassed even his own high standards by hammering in ten goals against Waddington United.

“It was an unbelievable day for me” recalls Clifford

“To score ten goals in one game felt absolutely amazing, I never wanted the game to end.”

Clifford was modest about his achievement and moved quickly to praise his team mates for their performances.

“I know that I’ll probably get most of the plaudits but I have to say it was a great all round performance from back to front.”

“I know all of my goals at the end of the day were down to me sticking them in the old onion bag but some of the service I received was exceptional, I got assists from Scotty, Gord, Rossco and even Carter so I am very thankful to them for helping me get the 10 goals.”

Clifford has struck up a great on-field relationship with Scott Coupland, Welton's new captain elect and talismanic forward.

The pair have combined to score a raft of goals over the past 16 months and Clifford is full of admiration for the Moorlands star.

"It is a pleasure to receive the throughballs you get from Sam and Scotty. They put the ball where they want, like Will Carter for the five a side team."

Clifford has set his sights on helping Welton win their first trophies since 1990.

"It is fair to say the Premier League is in front of everything else for us," he added in The Welton News.

"Welton have never been champions of Lincoln and the wait is enormous."

“I will do everything in my power to ensure that changes.”
