Lurchy’s Tips

Hello everyone and welcome to the inaugural edition of Lurchy’s tips. I have been scouting high and low over the last few days in an attempt to cure your credit crunch misery with the best bets for this weekend.

On Sunday Welton Sports & Social Club travel to in-form Janneys Allstars for what on paper looks a mouth-watering fifth round clash in the Lincolnshire County Cup. Scunthorpe-based outfit Janneys are making waves in North Lincolnshire after starting life in Division 6 three years ago.

After three successive promotions they have won all six league fixtures so far this season in Division 3 and have at their disposal one of the most feared strike partnerships in the county. Janneys front pairing of Byron Waudby and Bobby Sharpe have tormented defences throughout Scunthorpe this season – sharing 48 goals in the process. Pacey front man Waudby has come through the Janneys youth system with devastating affect and is the club’s all-time leading goalscorer.

Waudby amassed a remarkable 149 goals in Janneys first three seasons in the Scunthorpe Sunday League and has 11 to his name so far this term. And if that isn’t enough to send shivers down the spine of Welton’s rearguard then welcome to the stage Mr Bobby Sharpe. New signing Sharpe joined Janneys in pre-season for a record transfer fee and has become an instant hit with the All Star faithful. With a staggering 37 goals to his name in just nine games so far this season Sharpe is in the form of his life heading into the County Cup Clash.
