Lurchys tips

Lurchys tips comes with an apology from the editor this week as it is my fault they are late

I feel like the England cricket team at the moment, and boy don’t we both need a response today. I have received more press than the English cold snap over the last five days and my wrongs need to put right this weekend.First port of call as always is Welton S&SC and this weekend Big Al’s hungover troops make the short and ever-hospitable trip to the West Common to take on rock-bottom Tower Athletic. An easy game to predict you’d have thought, and I would agree. Tower, aside from their superb bar/restaurant facilities offer very little. Boasting a flawless played 10 lost 10 record this season I see nothing which would suggest that impressive record will change on Sunday. With Ruston Sports fixtureless, Big Al’s men know a win would put them in second spot and give Burkey’s GE Millers and timely reminder of their presence.Tower love conceding goals. They just do. They have already done what Ian Bell has done just once in his previous six Test matches – brought up their 50 (goals conceded). Welton, the second most feared attacking side behind Dynamo Rileys in the Lincoln League, will score aplenty on Sunday. The central midfield area is a cause for concern for the visitors however with Wilkinson C and Wilkinson T sidelined through holiday and injury respectively. Neil Stocks is likely to have S.Clifford in the engine room alongside him with Al to decide whether to start the returning Gordon or effervescent T.Bowey on the right flank. Jaz Dhindsa will also be pushing for a recall anywhere along the back-four, however Taylor may opt to stick with the same defence which expertly repelled Queen Bess in the previous fixture.
