Taylor hail 'immense' display

Al Taylor labeled his players "immense" after Welton continued their impressive run of results in Cup competitions with a 3-1 victory over Queen Bess.

Two late second-half goals from James Drabble and Simon Clifford sealed the win for Social on Sunday morning and despite being pegged back after Luke Cliffords stunning opener they held on for the win which moves them to within 90 minutes of the County Cup Final.

Taylor said: "We showed our quality in the first half and then showed our grit in the second. We know they would come out with a positive attitude but we dealt with that brilliantly.

"It is a very hard competition and to still be in this tournament at this late stage is a great achievement for us but we will not be happy until we are flying the flag for Lincoln at Sincil Bank."

"I thought we were immense to a man and we showed a great appetite for the game and a great appetite to defend. I can't ask any more of them."

The victory has pushed the village side into the bracket of Lincolnshires elite but Taylor knows there is a long way to go and is determined for his side to keep focused in the upcoming weeks.

He added: "Now we have to put the County Cup to the back of our minds as we have a massive Ron Eaglen quarter Final on Sunday for the right to face Millers in the Semis."

"We have got some momentum now so we just want to carry on going and that starts with the next match against Swan."
