Wilkinson hails 'wonderful' Welton

Welton chairman Clive Wilkinson admitted the club's victory in the Ron Eaglen Cup Final was the proudest moment of his association with the club and believes it will give them the platform to go on to bigger and better things in the future.

Al Taylors men sealed their first piece of silverware with a 3-2 victory over Ruston Sports at Sincil Bank.

Wilkinson, a born-and-bred Leicester fan, admitted the triumph means more to him than the foxes' return to the Championship this season.

"I'm almost speechless, it was fabulous, the culmination of a really hard season," he said.

"Big tribute to Al (MTaylor), the background team, everyone behind the scenes, (chief executive) Mark (Brewer) and the players - the players have been fabulous all throughout the season.

"I'm so proud of Welton and for the Village."
