Kelly Read Cup holders Welton S&SC will look to continue their outstanding run of form this weekend when they host Nettleham at Social Park in the quarter finals of the competition they have won for the last three seasons.
Welton progressed to the Ron Eaglen Cup Final last weekend with a professional 5-0 win against Clayton Wanderers at Lee Road where Luke Clifford scored 4 headed goals and Captain Scott Coupland kept his incredible scoring tally ticking over with a penalty.
With two Cup Finals in the bag Welton now turn to the defence of their Trophy when they once again face Nettleham United for the fourth time in 5 seasons at the latter stages of the Kelly Read Cup.
The Socialites have a depleted squad for the visit of their local rivals but manager Al Taylor believes they will be buoyed by 5-0 wins in their last two outings.
“We are full of confidence at the minute.” Said Taylor
“Scoring goals is great but two clean sheets is equally pleasing for us.”
“We’ve had half an eye on this game for a while now and we know that it is going to be a very tough game.”
“Nettleham always raise their game when they play us and this Sunday will be no exception.”
“It’s not ideal that we are not at full strength but we are brimming with confidence and are looking forward to a great game.
Taylor will no doubt be hoping to avoid the shambolic scenes that took place when the two teams met this same Weekend last Year when Joe Snookes was caught out by the clocks being moved forward an hour.
