Connor S&SC

Connor Smith has sensationally made a cross Village switch from Premier League newboys Welton Sports AFC to Kelly Read Cup holders Welton S&SC.

Smith becomes the first player to transfer between the Welton sides since Welton Sports AFC left the S&SC franchise and the 20 Year old local lad’s move is sure to add extra spice to the local derby’s that are scheduled for early 2013.

Supporters of the purple side of Welton were mystified at their teams decision to sell Smith but a Sports AFC spokesman moved to reassure fans that their hands were tied.

“When a player want’s to leave there is no point trying to make him stay, It is in the best interest of the team to deal with the situation as quickly as possible.”

“Connor has been an integral part of our rise to the premier League and we would like to thank him for all he has done for the Club.”

One teams loss is certainly another teams gain though as news of Smith’s transfer was greeted with happiness by Welton S&SC supporters.

Head of the Welton S&SC supporters club David Taylor said it was a real coup for his team to sign such a promising young player.

“The supporters are delighted to have a good local player like Smith to sign on.”

“I saw him play a couple of times last year for the other Welton side and was really impressed with him so hopefully he can have a big season for us.”

Connor Smith was unavailable for comment but is expected to be unveiled in early August.
