“James has been told he will be out for at least 6 weeks so he will definitely miss the start of the season” said reserve manager Mark Daly.
“It was a deliberate elbow, everyone was there could see that but as it’s a friendly nothing will be done about it.”
“It’s a nasty one for James and it really hampers our preparation for the upcoming season.” Said Daly
Drabble finished overall top scorer from all 6 Divisions last year and his goals propelled Welton Reserves to promotion to Division 3 will be sorely missed by the Reserves as they look to win promotion for the third Season in a row.
“He’ll be difficult to replace.” Said Daly
“We just have to hope that he heels up as quickly as possible so we can get him back into the team at the earliest possible chance.”
Drabble though was in good spirits when we caught up with him.
"There's no point dwelling on it." said Drabble
"I can still manage to sink a pint so that cushions the blow a bit I suppose."
