Matt 'Mayhem' Wilkinson last night took a potshot at Methringham and accused them of reducing the game to a battle of the bullies.
The socialites may have negotiated their first League game without any real problems, but their keeper has a history of bitter clashes with the South Lincoln side and claims they are forcing the skill out of the Sills and Betteridge League.
Talking at a Paramedic Fashion Show at the NEC earlier today and reflecting on a highlights programme of yesterdays win Wilkinson said ‘I saw some video highlights of the game yesterday and you cannot say any more it is football,’
‘I can definately say its is rugby on the goalkeepers more than football. The referees cannot go on and accept that and when you see how the centre back twice kicked out at Bow (Tom Bowey) in the box and HE was the one to get punished, you cannot say that it is fair football any more.
‘If the referees allow that, you cannot accept it because that has nothing to do with the game, if I was a top dog at the LFA I would be reviewing the tapes in disgust at the refereeing performance.’
'I have since read in the Echo that the Meg players have come out and told us to expect more of the same at their place, I better bring my Petr Cech cap' joked the former First team stopper.
'I just hope we have a stronger ref, we have players in our team who are easy targets due to their height disadvantage, Bowey being one, and I feel they require more protection, certainly not punishment for being the victim of savage tackles'
