Metheringham oaf angry at Bowey 'dive'

The cumbersome Metheringham defender at the heart of Sundays controversial incident involving Welton skipper Tom Bowey has accused the midfield live wire of cheating to attempt to earn his side a penalty at Social Park.

The Star and Garter locals were already trailing by 5 goals to 0 before in his opinion Bowey blatantly cheated and tried to get him sent off.

"For me it is cheating," he told BBC Radio Lincolnshire. "It's not even gamesmanship. He touched the ball and dived. There was no contact.

"It has got to be stamped out of the game. If I had made a bit of contact and he had gone down easily, that is fair play and gamesmanship to me. But when there is no contact at all?

"He has touched the ball, it has gone five yards and he dived into me. You could call that gamesmanship, but not for me."

"All I can say is the next time we meet them at our place he might have reason to go down!"
