Bowey Blasts Man In Black

Tom Bowey last night broke his silence on the controversial yellow card which has placed the newly crowned skipper on a war footing with the Lincolnshire FA.

At the end of a rollercoaster week in which he awarded the captaincy for the match and then scored twice in the second half at Social Park, the Welton born player expressed his anguish at referee Ian McDonald's refusal to refer his caution for review.

'Yesterday's decision is really disappointing,' said Bowey, who will be hit with a £10 fine at some point in the comings weeks.

'I challenged the original booking on the pitch because I thought it was wrong and I still think that is the case. I know my view was shared by many other people and players who I've spoken to within the Social reserves setup this week.

'Now that the referee has had a chance to see the video footage of the whole incident, I can't understand why he still feels that I deserved a yellow card. What happened in the incident is clear for everyone to see and decide for themselves.

'There was no unprovoked dive, the defender clearly caught me on both occasions. If the Ref feels no pen, then no pen, but to brandish me a cheat is plain wrong!'
'Speaking to Chairman Clive Wilkinson after the game, one of a handful of referees from the Country on the shortlist to attend the recent World Cup Finals and a Ref who notoriously never gives me a decision said he felt the decision to be 'ludicrous'

Bowey went on to say ' There’s nothing I can do now, the video evidence is there for all to see. There is no way I'll be changing any aspect of my game in light of stories written on the back pages even when they do misquote some of the people who I have respected most during my career, namely Richard Drabble, which is upsetting for both Richard and I'
