Tinkler can't wait to get started

New Welton signing Jason Tinkler has targeted silverware this season as Welton prepare to get the new season under way on Sunday against Jerusalem.

The 21-year-old attackerhas signed a four-year contract with the Socialites, and links up with former boss Lee Coupland.

Tinkler admits he is excited by the task ahead of him at Welton, and believes the club have what it takes to clinch a trophy this term.

"I'm very excited to be here. I can't wait to get started and I'm really looking forward to the challenge," he told the club's official website.

"I want to win silverware. I believe this club is capable of doing that and hopefully we can start this year.

"I know what Als assistant Lee is about and he knows what I am about. I had a great time with him at Cherry for two-and-a-half years.

The exciting forward hopes his new side can clinch glory in one or more of the competitions they are enterd in this term.

He added: "I am really excited by that. Welton have a great tradition in The County Cup. Sunday is a massive game and im sure it will be one to remember, hopefully for the right reasons for Welton.”

Tinkler also revealed that former GE Rustons team-mate Craig Wilkinson sold the exciting prospect of Welton to him.

Wilkinson spent two years with the Socialites and told Tinkler that he would enjoy his time in Welton, although the new signing admits he did not need much convincing.

"Craig spoke very highly of this club," he remarked. "He told me how well the club is run, how good it is and how special it is to play for. He told me I am going to love every minute of it.

"I have played against Welton at Social Park and the crowd are always fantastic towards their team and give them great support. I am looking forward to playing in front of them for welton.

“They always take a great travelling support aswell and we will need them on Sunday.”
