Goo takes positives from Meg win

Lee Coupland admitted that his side were lucky to scrape through to the Ron Eaglen cup Semi Finals after Sunday’s extra time win at Metheringham but Coupland insisted their were positives to be taken from the game.
It took a stunning goal from Luke Clifford in the first period of extra time to finally kill off the Division 1 high flyers and see last years beaten finalists through to next Mondays semi final draw.

“It wasn’t pretty and it wasn’t a performance we can be particularly proud of.” Said coupland.

“We knew it wasn’t going to be an easy game but perhaps are preparation wasn’t ideal.”

“We didn’t play well but when you look back at a Cup game post match it doesn’t matter how you play all that matters is that you’re in the next round so in that sense it is a good result.”

“Metheringham probably played the best game they have played all season yesterday and we have put in our worst performance and still come away with a win which is always pleasing.”

“Some of our lads have played 5 games this week and they’ve all played at least three so I think that could have been a factor yesterday.”

“We will learn from yesterdays game though and it could be just the lift we need to keep us on our toes for the rest of the season.”
