Carter relishing A46 Derby

Will Carter has admitted games like Wednesday’s A46 derby are the reason why he is still operating at the highest level.
As someone who has grown up in Welton, Carter is acutely aware of how important these local battles have always been now though, it is something else, right up there with the very biggest matches Carter has appeared in throughout his career.

"These are the sort of games which I still play football for," he said.

"They are big, this is as big as you can get."

Carter knows the price of failure would make it likely that Welton will have their first trophy less season for three Years.

Conversely, victory, would send the Socialites into next Tuesday’s County Cup final in buoyant mood, The importance does not need to be underlined.

"as a Welton player, you're used to big games. You have to block out all the hype and the predictions. That's been going on all the season anyway.

If people want to revel in us losing our last two games and hope we don’t win anything that’s up to them that’s been going on for Years and it’s never affected us before.”

“Whether we win or lose as players we always show respect to our opposition and other teams in the League and I think that is what makes Welton S&SC different from other teams.”

“Scothern have some tremendous players with the likes of Adlington, Green and Milinkovich and despite our rivalry there is mutual respect amongst both sides.”

“We’ve underperformed in our last two games but hopefully having a week off to prepare properly for this game will help us and has refocused us.

"We've had reminders throughout the season where we've put in poor performances and we've always reacted.

"Hopefully, after the disappointment against Fox and Hounds that's the case again."
