Get Well Soon Carter

On behalf of all the players, managers, coaching staff and fans I would like to wish a speedy recovery to Will Carter as he begins his recovery from a broken leg.

The incident marred a pulsating County Cup final last tuesday at Sincil bank between Welton Sports & Social FC and Seven Seas. In around the 70th minute a hard 50/50 with the seven seas midfielder left carter writhing in pain. Thankfully welton sports goalkeeper Matt Wilkinson who is a paramedic was onto the pitch in a flash to begin treating will while the on site medical assistance seemed a little shell shocked. An ambulance was called, but seemed to take an eternity to arrive, but finally will was whisked off to Lincoln County and had a successful operation last wednesday to pin a broken tibia and fibula.

The lads had a tough decision to make after seeing their buddie badly hurt wether to play on. After around 15 minutes it was agreed they would go on and try and win it for their team mate, with the score at 2-1 and time running out this was an uphill battle. However a rash challenge from the seven seas defender brought about the second penalty of the game and Welton's talisman Scott Coupland stepped up and confidently stroked the ball home.

Unfortunately with the scores level at 2-2 after 90 minutes the dreaded penalties were the fine margin that lead to Seven Seas retaining the cup by winning the shoot out 7-6. It was great performance from the lads and on balance they deserved the win over the 90 minutes.

This game marked the end of an incredible season for the club with sports and social reaching three finals of which they retained the Kelly Read cup. Unfortunately it was not to be in the Ron Eaglen and County cup and only victory stood in their way as they finished second in the Premier Division.

Welton Sports Afc also had a fantastic season winning division two by 11 clear points and going unbeaten all season winning 19/20 with one draw. They will be hoping to build on their cup runs also next year having fallen at the first round in the county cup, but progressed to the quarter final in the kelly read and semi final in the Ron Eaglen losing to eventual winners Fox and Hounds.

Rumours are rife that they could be promoted two divisions into the premier division which would be an incredible story for a team that was set up four years ago and began life in division 5. The management team will not find out until after the league agm on the 7th June, but are already starting to turn their eye to next seasons preperations regardless of which league they find themselves in.

Thank you to all the loyal supporters of the club both on the pitchside and behind the scenes as I firmly believe we are building the best club in Lincolnshire which could boast two teams in Lincolns sunday premier division come september which to my knowledge would be a first.

Look forward to seeing you again next season which is due to kick off on September 2nd.
