Ron his way?

Welton S&SC Manager Al Taylor has hinted that the Kelly Read Cup holders will listen to offers for Journeyman centre forward James “Ronnie” Drabble in the January transfer window.

Despite banging in 12 goals for crocked Welton star Will Carter’s GOO-Ners six a side team Drabble has been relegated to Goalkeeper by Carter in recent Weeks having managed just one goal for the Village giants after his controversial cross village switch from Welton Sports AFC, that goal coming in a pre season friendly and sources close to the Village Club say that Manager Taylor has also lost patience with the fan favourite.

Taylor has become increasingly frustrated with the one time Premier league golden boot winner and despite the striker receiving a rowsing round of applause from the travelling Welton faithful in last weekends County Cup quarter final victory at Hykeham, Manager Taylor may be prepared to cut his losses on the striker adding fuel to rumours on Social networking sites that Drabble could unite with close friend and former Welton team mate Andrew Huckett by signing for Hucketts ambitious Rileys FC side.

Rileys FC are believed to be at the front of a queue of lower League sides prepared to take a gamble on the erratic striker seeing him as a valuable commercial asset even if he proves to be no use to them on the pitch.

The Welton S&SC club shop reported a 57 percent increase in sales of their new home shirt when Drabble re-signed for the Socialites in August with his famous number 14 shirt flying off the rails quicker than the Club shop could churn them out and many Clubs believe signing Drabble would represent a real commercial coup as sides in the lower echelons of the Sills and Betteridge League continue to struggle in the tough economic climate.

Privately Drabble is known to be a huge fan of Rileys and has hinted to friends that being reunited with close friend Huckett could reignite his fledgling career even if the move was on loan until the end of the season, a move that would benefit all concerned with Welton being able to get at least half of Drabbles monsterous wages off the wage Bill.

No official statement has been made by either the striker nor Welton S&SC but despite Drabble saying his journey had come to an end when he arrived back on the blue side of Social Park it appears likely that his journey may not yet be complete.
