Clifford Snubs Final Offer

Simon Clifford's Welton S&SC future could be in doubt after the defender rejected a new four-year contract.
The 23-year-old, who is out of contract this summer, has been at the club for just one season, joining from local rivals Cherry Willingham.
"He has not agreed anything, which is entirely up to Simon, we feel we have made him a good offer," said Social Club boss Al Taylor. "We've met with his agent. They've rejected our last offer so that is the end of it. We won't be going back - it's up to him to come to us."
Clifford has been a regular for Welton this season, fitting into a new-look back three along side Carter and Taylor at centre-back. Big Al did not say if he would be talking further to Clifford, and admitted he could lose him on a free transfer at the beginning of July - but would not be held to ransom. "It's a possibility. It would be a disappointment," he said.
It was reported on the club's official site on 10th June that Clifford would join his brother Luke in pledging his immediate future to the club, but that now seems unlikely.
