Craigs deal set in Stone

Welton players and fans rejoiced last night as the unveiling of another new signing sees the return of one of Weltons favourite sons.
Craig Stones stunned the footballing world last night by re-signing for Welton S&SCFC. Rumours had been rife in Welton all day after well known agent James Drabble who it is believed was instrumental in deals to bring Pete Sutton and Joe Snookes to Social park alerted the press that a new signing was to be unveiled before the reserve teams match. Many people speculated that the player Drabble was bringing with him could have been Stones as the former imp was spotted on the sidelines at Hunters Leap last Sunday but after a torrid summer in the transfer market and in particular the spectacular collapse of the Jason Tinkler deal, no one at Social Park was counting their Chickens before they were hatched.

Stones was unveiled to the media circus at 6:45pm and was immediately whisked inside Social Park for his medical and then onto his first training session with the first team squad. This was Stones first training session since the former Lincoln City star suffered a career threatening leg break whilst playing for Sleaford Town. In his first interview in over a year Stones had this to say.

I’m delighted to be back playing football again and I’m delighted to be back home at Social Park.” “The injury that I suffered put a lot of things into perspective for me, I realise now that I should have stayed with Welton instead of signing for Sleaford Town.”

A lot of things have changed in the property surveyors life since he last pulled on the blue and white stripes for the Social, Stones is now engaged and his fiancée is due to give birth to Stones first child in the coming months. Stones also acknowledged that a lot has changed at Social park since his last appearance.

“Since I have been gone Welton have come on in leaps and bounds since I last played, with quality players coming in like Snookesy, SutDog (Pete Sutton) Scott Coupland, Tom Wilko and Luke Clifford to name a few. Those new boys plus the Local legends Taylor, Carter, Gordon and Stocksy who are all still going strong I think that Welton are the strongest they have been for years so it is the perfect time for me to come back. As soon as James told me there was a chance that I could return I jumped at the chance. I discussed the offer with my fiancée Kelly and she said I would be crazy to turn Welton down and that chances like this don’t come round many times in your career.”

Stones is unavailable for selection this week but should be available for selection the following week when Welton entertain Ruston Sports.
