Mr Drabble – Sutton is a liability

Respected county solicitor and Welton S&SC season ticket holder Richard Drabble has slammed the off-field antics of versatile frontman Pete Sutton.
The Sleaford-born striker produced a distinctly below-par display in Welton’s 8-2 hammering of Tower Athletic on Sunday, with many pointing the finger of blame on an all night booze up the previous evening.

Although the exact details of Sutton’s drinking session aren’t know, it is thought that the 25-year-old ignored the “Saturday Night stay-in” rule imposed by big Al in sensational fashion.

Sutton is believed to have started his bout of drunken debauchery at the appropriately named Tower Bar at 7.30pm before moving across to Cloud Bar and then down to Widdows Cullen Well for a few Taddy’s with cockney pal Paul.

Sutton was then seen stumbling down Steep Hill to frequent Lincoln publicans Kind and Revolution before finishing off with a few shots and questionable dance moves in Dogma.

After a blatant disregard for Welton’s fixture the following morning, Sutton failed to make any impact at Social Park and was awarded a meagre 6/10 from the club’s marking panel.

Speaking exclusively to wsscfc.blogspot.com, Mr Drabble admitted walking away from Social Park with mixed emotions after watching eldest son James bag his opening goals of the campaign.

Well what can I say? A great day turned sour by the actions of Sutton,” said Mr Drabble.

“I arrived looking forward to watching my new favourite player (Sutton), but he proved that he will never be worthy of filling the void left by the great Thomas Bowey.

“It may all come as great laughs and giggles for Peter, but at the end of the day it could cost the club silverware. It is just not guaranteed whether he will turn up every Sunday morning in the right mindset.”

When asked if Welton can win the league this season, Mr Drabble’s response said it all: “Well that all depends on Peter Sutton.”

Drabble went onto speak of his ‘pride’ after watching son James crash home his opening goals of the 2008-09 campaign after being dropped from the previous match against Rustons.

“I was pleased for James, especially after the disappointment of the previous week,” said Mr Drabble.
"It was just very fortunate that both goals were presented to him on a plate because we all know how iffy his finishing can be.”
