“At times I feared I would never play again” said Brewer
“I suffered the injury in our first training session of the season which was a really bad time to pick up the injury because I wanted to show Scally and Dayley that I was the man to spear head the Reserves assault on Division 5.”
“It’s not been easy sat in the John Stanham stand watching even though the lads have got off to a flyer.”
An unfortunate injury to top scorer Liam Leeds Rawlings meant that Brewer was able to take his place on the Bench this last Sunday morning against AFC Harpars.
“Leeds has been superb for us so far this season and it’s a shame that he has picked up his injury but it has opened the door for me and I intend to grab my chance with both hands.”
The Ginger Genie couldn’t have wished for a better time to come on with the reserves leading 4 0 at half time. The Genie showed flashes of his magic in the second half and felt he could have earned his side a penalty but in truth many fans at Social Park thought Brewer was lucky to stay on the pitch after producing one of the most shocking dives ever witnessed.
“Im no cheat!” claimed Brewer
“Maybe I made the most of it, but there was definite contact and I’ve even got the bruise to prove it. In my opinion it was a definite penalty.”
The Reserve team management duo of Scally and Dayley must surely be delighted to have Brewer back though and they will be hoping that some of the Genies magic rubs off on the rest of the team and opens up an Alladins cave of Goals and entertainment down at Social Park.
Pantomime season is back at Social Park!
