Snookes targets County Cup success

Welton Sports & Social defender Joe Snookes claims winning the County Cup is a realistic target for the club.
Welton have reached the first round proper and entertain Grimsby based Fairdeal Carpets in the opening round clash on Sunday.

"We have a good squad," said Snookes, who is currently recovering after an ankle injury.

"We have players who have been there and done it, which is important.

"It won't be easy but we have experience from our campaign last season and can go a long way."

Snookes, 22, wasn’t a member of the Welton team that reached the last 16 of the County Cup last season before being robbed away at eventual Semi finalists Seven Seas.

But the defender said Welton needed to be more consistent to fulfil their ambition of winning the Premier League.

"We have some very good results then seem to let ourselves down the following week," said Snookes.

"If we can get a little run going we can establish ourselves as favourties and extend our lead at the top, which we need and which is very important.

"But winning the title will be tough this year. "There are a lot of good teams in the division. Anybody can beat anybody - except perhaps Millers - at the moment."
