The influential Scot has not featured for the Social since bruising his left ankle against Hunters Leap on the 31st of August.
However, the surgeon who operated on the 29-year-old has given Taylor the all clear to step up his rehabilitation.
Sunday's trip to Rustons comes too soon for the Scottish stopper, but Al Taylor is hoping to welcome the Scots man back into the fold before the end of September.
"Ross has started training again and we are glad to have him back with us," the Social manager told the Lincolnshire Echo.
"We haven’t missed him a great deal since he has been out but that is due to the excellent emergence of Jaz Dhindsa. We have followed instructions from his surgeon and the early signs we have seen from Rossco are good.
"He looks really sharp and fit and he's obviously looked after himself during the time he was out.
"I don't know when he'll be available again but he's coming along nicely just now. The one thing we won't do, though, is take any risks with him."
With Welton having made an impressive start to the new campaign, Taylor is looking forward to having Taylor back to prevent complacency setting in amongst the other defenders.
"What he does for the team is really important," he added.
"We have missed him in the dressing room since August it just doesn't smell right in there without Rossco dropping a pre match Jobby and though we’ve done very well without him we need him back fighting to regain his place.”
"I'm sure there will be a mental barrier for him to overcome when he gets back because he has suffered the injury three times.
"But he's had two and a half weeks since the operation and he is looking better and better. Of course we are going to be careful with him but when he's ready, we will be playing him and we can't wait to get him back."
