Curtis keen on Welton return

On-Loan UWIC winger Mark Curtis has expressed his desire to return to Welton S&SCFC at the end of his loan deal. The speedy attacker left Welton S&SCFC in the summer to go on a season-long loan to Welsh University side UWIC, but as of yet the deal has failed to bear fruit. With the commencement of the BUSA leagues still several weeks away, Curtis has yet to play a competitive match for his temporary club and admits he is missing the excitement of first-team football.
“I have played a bit of 5-a-side, but that’s it.” Curtis told the Welton S&SCFC website. “The leagues don’t start for another few weeks and to say I am lacking in match fitness would be a massive understatement.”
With a clause in the player’s contract allowing him to return over the festive period to play for the Lincoln league leaders likely to be exercised, it remains to be seen if Welton are as eager as the player to come to an agreement. With an abundance of attacking talent strutting their stuff at Social Park this season, Welton are not short of wingers or forwards and Curtis admits he may only return to be a part of the set-up. “Obviously, I still look out for (Welton’s) results and am still in contact with the boys, so it’s great to see them doing so well. Hopefully, when I come back at Christmas I will get a bit of playing time but I will be happy just being part of the festive banter again”.
