Coupland – If you can’t beat them join them!!

After weeks of controversy surrounding the drunken behaviour of a number of the Welton players, assistant manager Lee Coupland has had a staggering change of heart over the issue.

Coupland, taking his place in the dug-out alongside Al Taylor and Mac the Knife for the first time this season, has taken the staggering steps of joining The Socialites’ squad on their upcoming booze-up in Leeds this weekend.

After voicing his discontent on the issue of overindulgence for weeks on www.wsscfc.blogspot.com, Coupland has finally realised there is no stopping his ever-thirsty squad and has decided to come along for the ride.

“Yes, yes, yes, I know this may seem a touch extreme but we have had a great start to the season and I feel a few ales in Leeds this weekend will do me the world of good,” said Coupland.“

One defeat all season and a fantastic start to the cup competitions is definitely worth celebrating, and where and when better than in West Yorkshire this weekend?”

Coupland’s managerial style has been compared to that of Premier Leagure No.2’s Johnny Metgod of Portsmouth and Brian Horton of Hull City in recent times. And like it or loathe it, the Cherry Willingham-based tactician has helped lead Welton to their most successful start to a league season since 1976.

“Those kind of stats don’t lie do they?, Coupland remarked. “Since joining the club everyone has had their say on my input but I hope everyone in time will see what I am trying to achieve.“I have done a lot of work behind the scenes with Mac, Al and even Clive (Wilkinson) and we are desperate to guide the club to some silverware this season.“But for the meantime, bring on Leeds and let me show these whippersnappers how to drink!”
