Elmander – This is my time

Bolton striker Johan Elmander has promised to give the reformed Jaz Dhindsa a birthday to forget by denting Liverpool’s title bid at the Reebok Stadium on Saturday.

Dhindsa, an avid Liverpool supporter, travels to Leeds this weekend to celebrate his 23rd birthday, and his signalled his intent to find a local publican unfortunate enough to be screening the Premier League fixture.

The lunch-time kick-off is a big favourite of all-day drinking veterans such as Will Carter, James Drabble and Ross Taylor, but Dhindsa is not a fan of watching his beloved Reds in public venues in case of defeat. And Elmander, Bolton’s £10 million summer signing from Toulouse, has promised an uncomfortable afternoon in front of the Tv for Welton utility man Dhindsa.
“I intend on not just ruining Liverpool’s day, but also Jaspaul’s,” boasted the Bolton bruiser.“Nothing would give me greater pleasure than bagging a brace in front of a sparse Reebok crowd on Saturday and I know that would see Dhindsa’s birthday weekend in tatters.”

Bolton manager Gary Megson has also backed the club record signing to find the back of the net but is determined to guide him through his sluggish start to life in the Premier League. Elmander arrived from Toulouse in the summer with high expectations but has failed to light up the Reebok with only one goal in eight appearances.

Megson - who is under pressure from Bolton supporters - is convinced Elmander will soon prove why he was so determined to break the bank and bring him to England.

"There's a lot of pressure from outside to perform and it's always viewed in goals," he said. "But he's linked up well."His season's been a bit stop and start due to injury, but he will come good. Within the dressing room there's no problems with him. "He needs to get used to the way that we play. "He needs to get used to the things that we will accept and will not accept. And that will take a bit of time."
