Lurch – Respect the ref!Former Welton S&SC hitman Joe Drabble has warned this weekend’s travelling party to be on their best behaviour as they prepare to wreak havoc in West Yorkshire.
It is expected that around 20 different faces will travel north to basque in celebratory ales to mark the 23rd birthdays of the reformed Jaz Dhindsa and Welton legend Tom Bowey. And Drabble, a well-respected night-marshall placed in charge of keeping law & order this weekend, insists he won’t be afraid to dish out punishment for bad behaviour.
“For those unsure of a night-marshall’s role, basically I make sure that everyone conducts themselves in an appropriate manner and no-one runs riot," said Drabble, aka Sib and Lurch.
“I have adopted this role so we have no repeat of the scenes in 2006 which saw The Bow arrested for urinating in the street.“Punishment shots will be dished out for those who feel the need to cause carnage and replicate the scenes in York which saw Cheffins and Ronnie brawling in a local publican.”
Asked who the main instigators of night-out mischief are, Drabble said: “ Messers Johnson, Dhindsa, Ronnie and Carter are never far from trouble and I will be keeping a close eye on that quartet.“Lord is never far from controversy, but as long as he gets the beers in, I have no problem with him.
“On the Saturday I expect Coupland S to be up to his old tricks, but it’s nothing I’m not used to and I’m sure I will be able to keep them all in check.”
