Wilkinson keeps his feet on the ground

Tom Wilkinson has warned his Welton colleagues they must not get "too cocky" after a 3 match winning streak in 3 separate cup competitions, a run in which the Social have scored 31 goals.

The Cowpaddle is not a lucky ground for Welton, even if they go there on the back of making it through in all cup competitions. The Socialites are on a roll but Wilkinson believes Sundays win over Waddington will count for nothing against Gaz Symons and co.

He said: "We don't want to get too cocky yet. It was only the first rounds of the cups for us in the Lincoln based cups, and there are some tough ones still to play.

"But it does set us up nicely and we can concentrate now on Sunday's game at Victory and hope that this form and momentum can continue."

It would be fair to say that Welton will travel over Pelham Bridge on Sunday full of confidence, and with boss Al Taylor having been able to rest one of his star players just for the occasion.

Taylors squad strength has improved so much that he did not need to use Neil Stocks from the start against Waddington, despite the midfielder having recovered from an ankle injury.

Taylor said: "Neil was fit, he was fine. But we had seven days between the Waddo game and the trip to the Cowpaddle, so I felt the player could be held back for the game on Sunday.

"Everyone was fit, but I knew we had Leigh who could come in and play in midfield. I preferred to think of the next game and keep Stocksy for that.

"Craig and Tom Wilkinson were also both doing fine, so there was no need to use him from the start against Waddo, I preferred to keep him back for the games we have to come."

Taylor has no major injury problems for the Victory game, saying: "Dhinny will probably have a slight hangover, not serious. And I do not believe that there is much wrong with Pete Sutton, he took a heavy tackle for Sleaford the other night but he will be fine for the weekend."

However Social will definatley be without the suspended Joe Snookes.
