Bowey seals Social switch

Tom Bowey has been unveiled by Welton S&SC after returning home to Lincoln from Leeds to sign a four-and-a-half-year deal with the village side.

Midfielder Bowey was officially presented as a Welton player at the club's Christmas party on Sunday afternoon after the Socials victory over CW Golden Eagle in the Ron Eaglen Cup thanks to two goals from Scott Coupland and a goal each from Neil Stocks and Tom Wilkinson. After passing his medical with club Doctor Tommy, Bowey put pen to paper on a four-and-a-half year contract with the North Lincolnshire giants.

The 23-year-old businessman, who joins for a fee reportedly in the region of £18.00 has been brought in to bolster Weltons attacking options.

Bowey could inherit the number four shirt that he made famous last season.

Bowey insists he is ready to make the step up to Premier league standards again.

"For four or five months I have been at a mediocre club but I have scored goals for fun and I’m nine goals clear at the top of the scorers chart, Being back at Welton will be a step up but I know I can handle it and I'm ready to play for The Social," he said.

"I have a lot of desire to do well, and I'm looking forward to wearing the Welton colours. It's a dream to be here again and I'm very happy.

"I hope everything goes as well as possible for me here at Welton."

Welton talent scout Richard Drabble spoke of his joy at the return of his favourite player.

“I’m so happy that the Bow is back. I was inconsolable in the Summer when I heard he was leaving but the news of his return is truly the greatest Christmas present I could have wished for. ”

“There are very few sights in World football that are more exciting than seeing Tom Bowey with the ball at his feet.”

"He is an exceptional player who has a lot of experience and will be a magnificent solution for Welton for the rest of the season and four more."
