Welton Sports & Social manager Alistair ‘Big Al’ Taylor this morning confirmed he was happy with the progress new signing Tom Bowey has been making in training and said it wont be long before Welton fans can see there idol back in the blue and white of Welton.
“ He’s been showing good signs in training and is looking sharper than I expected which is pleasing.” Said the Scotsman.
However Sundays rearranged fixture in the County Cup against Janneys Allstars has come a week to soon for the winger who looks set to be included in the squad for the match against Victory the following week in the Ron Eaglen Cup.
The Deloitte businessman said he is pleased to be back after a 5 month spell in the Leeds Sunday league.
“It didn’t work out for me in Leeds and I am not ashamed to admit that. Big Al obviously got wind I wasn’t happy and when he called me up asking me to come back it was not a hard decision for me. I love playing for Welton, I have missed the players, fans, coaches and of course the cheap beer in the club!” Bowey joked.
Bowey, 22 was prolific in his first spell at the club, notching up over 30 goals in his first 2 seasons and he wants to continue that form for the rest of this season in a bid to win some silverware.
“ The first goal will be the hardest, as soon as I’ve got that monkey off my back I will be able to rediscover my touch in front of goal. I want to win trophies and I feel we have the strength and depth in squad to do that this year. We owe it to the fans.”
