Carter desperate for cup success

Welton Sports and Social FC defender Will Carter wants to win as many trophies as possible with the Socialites this season and doesn’t care which ones.

After being introduced as a late substitute in the Socials defeat of Victory he is probably only likely to be on the bench on Sunday despite playing well whenever he has been brought on and despite the fact he trains every week. The fans favourite refuses to let his head drop and remains desperate to win trophies with the club he calls ‘his club’

"I have never won a trophy in 11 a side football but I would love to," he said.

“I’ve been with Welton 11 years now and we’ve always been the nearly men.”

“I’ve won several 5 a side tournaments and 5 a side leagues and played in a couple of finals but have always ended up on the losing side."

"Woodhall Spa, Queen Bess and Swan Athletic all at home gives us a good chance to reach the semi finals of all three competitions and with Millers dropping points at the weekend only a fool would right us off in the league.”

Carter has found himself out of favour in the last few weeks but the Welton star has not ‘Spat his dummy out’ at any point despite what certain members of the Welton camp may say. Carter accepts that at this stage of the season, with Social in the hunt for every trophy on offer, Taylor needs to look at his team selections with a clinical eye.

"Now we are on the run-in we are playing big, important games which all mean so much," reflected Carter.

"You need everyone fresh and on top form. No-one is better at it than the boss.

"It is not a rivalry. We are friends and team-mates so when I am sitting on the sidelines I am still desperate for the team to do well.

“All I can do is keep doing my best when I get my chances and then hopefully I can force my way back into the side.”

“ afterall how you play on the pitch is surely the only thing that matters?!”

"We have just got so many options, with so many different strengths and weaknesses," said Carter.

"The boss knows what he is doing and who can argue with him? Certainly not me."
