The centre-back, who will continue at the back this Sunday against Queen Bess, has given an insight into the winning mentality inbred into the squad by manager Al Taylor.
Welton are currently three points behind of main rivals Millers in the race for the title should they win their games in hand but they are still going strong in all three cup competitions they are entered in.
Chesman said: "The mentality at the moment is, every game we go into, we try and win it, and you've got to do that when you are third in the league and trying to fight with the teams that rarely slip up."You've got to do the business yourself and at the moment we're doing that and it is all about whether we can continue that through to the end of the season.
"Are the other teams thinking Welton will crack with so many fixtures? I think that is what most people have been thinking and at the moment we haven't done that.
"We rode our luck last week where perhaps we looked as if we would only get a point and have managed to pick up all three.
"People are waiting for us to slip up and it gives you a bit of an incentive to keep going but we have put ourselves in such a great position, we want to win for ourselves as well.
"Every game we go into, the manager makes it clear we are out there to win all three points or to progress in the cup.
"It is a different approach to when I was at Fiskerton and Moorlands. We might go to a place and set up a bit negative and maybe try and take a point. Being at Welton, every single game we try and win."
Chesman has played every second since making his debut against Janneys All stars after making his £3.50 move to Social Park- and James Drabble believes he can give the side added steel during the remainder of the season.
He said: "I have played against Jamie over the years and you always come off the pitch knowing you have been in a game.
"The manager likes to buy players he knows what he is going to get from them and, having seen Jamie for years at Fiskerton, he knows him inside out.
"He knows what he will bring to us and he will give us another dimension at the back. He can only help us in our push for glory this season."
