Ossai: Quadruple on for Social

Welton S&SC goalkeeper Rick Ossai insists the Socialites can win an unprecedented quadruple despite their mounting fixture pile up.

Last season, the Socialites looked to be in contention to win three trophies but were knocked out at the Quarter Final, Semi Final and Final stages in separate cup competitions largely due to inelligibility.

Now Taylor must privately fear the same scenario is unfolding again.

The Social manager already knows he will be without Jaz Dhindsa and Tom Wilkinson this weekend.

It is hardly the ideal backdrop to a fixture, especially as Jerusalem have done better in recent weeks.

But Ossai insists as long as they have the chance of winning all four trophies, they will be going for it.

"We are going for all four," said the Welton stopper

"It is something you hope for at the start of the season. There is confidence that these four trophies are all up for grabs.

"And when you have the players and belief we have, why not?

"Fingers crossed when the Kelly Read starts up again we will have a fully-fit squad. That is when we will start to dream about those sorts of things.

"For the moment we will just look at each game individually but it is going well for us so far."

By the time Social tackle Woodhall Spa at Social Park in March they should have their outstanding Premier League fixtures mostly out of the way, although other games may have to be rearranged depending on Weltons progress in the other cups.

Of more immediate concern is what damage Welton sustained reaching the Ron Eaglen Cup quarter final with the 4-2 win over Victory. Tom Wilkinson is due to discover tomorrow the extent of a hamstring injury that saw him carried off minutes from the final whistle.

The former Imp was in pain when he was dispatched to York but it will require a further X-ray to establish the precise cause, although ligament damage is not suspected.

Having suffered so badly a year ago, Taylor increased his squad strength and Ossai is confident they will survive.

"Fingers crossed we will be okay for Sunday," he said.

"The thing is players know if they are not fit other lads can come in, do well and keep their positions.

"That should be an incentive for people to get up off the treatment table and get playing.

"We are all going to be needed over the next few weeks."
