Players will get money back - Clive

Welton Chairman Clive Wilkinson has assured the club's players who were made to celebrate last weekends County Cup success in dingy Scunthorpe pub The Mallard that they will be reimbursed for any money they may have spent.

Weltons victorious squad believed they were on their way to Janneys home pub for sausage and chips, Welton left the Quibbel Park Stadium starving after being unable to have a prematch meal, The starving heroes set off in convoy behind Clive Wilkinson, only for hapless chairman Clive to declare we have arrived when the team arrived at the Mallard. 3 miles away from the chips!

Wilkinsion has admitted that he made an all mighty balls up with his directions.

“I must admit I had no idea where I was going” said Wilkinson

“I stupidly never asked a Janneys representative where we were heading and Elaine and I blindly set off into the middle of Scunthorpe.”

“I thought I’d hit the jackpot when we arrived at the Mallard but I couldn’t have been more wrong.”

Wilkinson, speaking to BBC Radio Lincolnshire, said: "Clearly we wish to keep the squad happy and the only way I can expect them to trust me again is to buy them all a drink after the Queen Bess game.”

"My offer to the players is one pint regardless of the result and two pints each if we progress to the semi final.”

Wilkinsons better half Elaine wished to express her sorrow at her husbands shambolic navigating by offering to cook for the15 that went hungry last weekend a slap up meal of their choice.

Clives son Tom has also spoke of his embarrassment at his Dads calamitous error.
“I should of known he didn’t know where he was going.”

“When he used to drive me to matches when I was at Lincoln we were always pulling over and asking for directions.”
The Wilkinsons: Couldn't find their way out of a paper bag!
