This week we shall be heading to the west Common to watch the Boys take on Rock Bottom Tower Athletic. The Game is scheduled to kick off at 10:45 a.m unless the bleak winter storms we have been seeing of late choose to rear their ugly heads again. The official team party will be leaving their mansions at around 9:35 for their official pre game meeting at the ground at 9:45. With a journey time of around 10 minutes you should be fine to leave at quarter past 10 and get to the ground at a canter.
We have been allocated 43 standing tickets for the game and some of these are still available from the ticket office. If you don’t have a ticket for the away end it is unlikely you will get in on the home terraces as a big crowd is expected because with the specter of relegation looming over the Tower, The rest of the ground is sold out as Tower fans feel this may be their last chance to see Welton play for some years.
RAD’S post match tipple
Those wishing to stay after the game for a jar should look no further than the hosts home pub The Tower Hotel. This is where the official team party will be converging on after the game where The Towers world famous Desperados and Ice cold Carling are served at a very reasonable price also potato wedges and rustic baguettes will be in plentiful supply. Quite frankly you’d be a fool not to pop in for 1. But as we well know one can soon become two and for those of you in a celebratory mood the Bailgate offers a magnificent array of Pubs from The hearty traditional ales available in The Victoria to the lively Lion and Snake, My personal recommendation though is The White Hart Hotel, Claire and I often frequent this stylish, elegant Bar. Take heed though as prices are slightly inflated in this bar but the quality of the Becks Vier fully justifies the extra cost.
RAD’s weather forecast
Yet again I have been in contact with my friends at the Met Office and they have advised that there is a chance of the odd shower on Sunday morning so I recommend taking an anorak and an umbrella as a precaution because the last thing you want is to get wet. Average temperatures on Sunday will be about 9 degrees which is fairly mild but their will be a chilly North Westerly wind with average speeds of 10 mph and gusts as high as 22mph. That’s the official weather but as we all know only to well it is probably just as likely to snow as it is anything else at the minute so be prepared for the worst.
