Neil Stocks insists he will never just to go through the motions at Welton S&SC and admits his desire to win trophies is still strong.
Stocks is proving to be one of the driving forces behind Weltons trophy quest, which remains alive on all fronts and takes them to the west common on Sunday for a Premier League match with the rock bottom Tower
As a veteran of many a Premier League campaign, Stocks could forgiven for regarding a mid-winter trip down the A46 to the grandstand with the same lack of enthusiasm he usually reserves for the old Boys game at the end of season knees up.
But the 26-year-old is determined his last couple of years at Social Park will not be spent winding down towards retirement.
"My desire to win more trophies is still strong," he said.
"Welton is a massive club that demands that you win things.
"If you are just happy to go along and not earn medals there is no point in you being here.
"We are in February now and in a great position to be successful this season. Hopefully we can see it through."
Victory over Tower would move Welton into 2nd position in the Premier League, although with a dozen senior figures on the injured list, just finding a team will be hard enough for Big Al Taylor.
Will Carter is expected to shake off an injury to start at right-back, with Sam Gordon adding an element of freshness to a midfield that was far too good for Queen Bess two weeks ago.
