Welton fans like to be beside the seaside

The atmosphere is building in Grimsby ahead of Sunday’s County Cup Final between Welton S&SC and holders Seven Seas as dozens of Welton fans make their way to the coast perhaps more in hope than expectation this Weekend.
Hostels and hotels are filling up as Welton's travelling army of supporters descend on the town.

Hostels and hotels have pumped up the prices for the Week, with a dorm room costing about £5 and a room with a shower in excess of £12 more than double the normal price for a Grimsby hotel.

One receptionist on Cleethorpes sea front, the areas main tourist drag, said business had been disappointing over the past few weeks with space to spare, but in the past day or so the beds have filled up.

A Bed and Breakfast owner said: "We've had no guests at all this Year but A lot of Welton fans are here to see the game. They're great guys to have around."

He said police patrols had been stepped up in the area and he had not heard of any problems for fans, although about half did not have a ticket for the game.

Fans already on the ground have endured heavy showers over the past few days with but there were clear sunny skies to welcome the new influx of supporters and temperatures were expected to hit 10C
