BIG AL EYES A REAL ‘COUP’

Big Al looks set to bolster his ‘bulging’ squad this week with the prize acquisition of influential Cherry Willingham playmaker Scott Coupland. Since becoming a free-agent this summer, Coupland (21) has been a man in demand. However, after extensive week-long contract negotiations, Coupland looks set to pen a 1year rolling contract on visiting the clubs village training facilities this Thursday. Coupland was in attendance at Welton’s pre-season victory over Royal Mail this weekend and seemed impressed by the classy display. A glistening football biography and a string of impressive performances last season rendered Coupland Big Al’s joint number one transfer target. And it appears a bumper pay packet and the opportunity to work with former Lincoln City team-mate Tom Wilkinson has swung the deal. A press conference has been called for after training where Big Al looks set to unveil the charismatic attacker. The proposed signature of Coupland would send a clear message of intent to Welton’s league rivals. With an already talented squad at his disposal, insiders suggest that the pressure is on Big Al to deliver silverware this season and to raise the clubs economic profile in the US.
