Neil Stocks agent has rejected reports that Welton have offered him a record contract to keep the Clubs captain at Social Park.
Reports over the weekend suggested Welton had made a new improved offer to Stocks in a bid to stop their Captain leaving the Club.
Welton are desperate to keep the holding midfielder.
But Stocks representative, Andrew Slack, says he has not heard from Welton since the start of the month.
And when asked if Stocks had been offered a record deal, Slack told Kick-off.com: "I am reluctant to discuss the situation now, but I can confirm that neither myself nor Neil have met with Big Al regarding the contract.
Welton Chairman Clive Wilkinson has slammed this statement so saying that the Club are doing everything they can to keep Stocks at the Club.
“We are doing everything we can too keep Neil at Social Park” said Wilkinson.
“Neil knows that no one wants him to leave but he appears to want to move on so there is nothing we can do.”
“We will continue to negotiate with Neil though as we feel he is still a vital part of our team but at any level of football if a player wants to leave there is very little a Club can do about it.”
